Extension Maintenance Instructions

  • Wear hair in a low ponytail or braid at night.

  • Do NOT go to bed with wet hair.

  • Try to wash extensions no more than twice a week.

  • Use dry shampoo, corn starch (blondes), cocoa powder (brunettes) to soak up excessive natural scalp oils.

  • Silk pillowcases help extend the lifespan of your extensions.

  • Using a pick, Wet Brush or boar bristle brush, starting from the bottom going up,  brush each extension track firmly holding just below the extension seam or row with your hand to prevent pulling while detangling the hair.

  • Brush extensions a minimum of twice a day.

  • Best extension products to use: Anything moisturizing, Olaplex line, hair oil, leave in conditioner, dry shampoo (or listed alternatives), hair moisturizer mask (use once a week), moisturizer shampoo & conditioner, heat protection, clarifying shampoo ( especially if you have well water).

  • Always use heat protectant when blow drying and styling.

  • Use alternative non-heat styling options.

  • If you have hard water consider exploring water softener options and add a filter to your shower head. Clarifying shampoo may be required weekly.

Maintaining your extensions at home in between your appointments is critical for the longevity of your extensions and allowing for easy move ups. Brushing your extensions at the base allows for detangling and removal of any loose/fallen hairs making move ups easy and healthy. By following all of these care suggestions your hair should last you an average of 12 months.

*Acknowledgement of service and cost of maintenance.  As a client I understand that this is a luxury service that requires strict maintenance.  I understand that installs are not guaranteed with no maintenance. I understand the explanations of the entire procedure, and I am aware that with proper care on my part, they should remain in my hair for no longer than 4-6 weeks between maintenance appointments.

I also understand they must be removed and reinstalled every 5, 10, or 15 weeks depending on my natural hair density and rate of shed, which will be determined by my stylist. I recognize that the extension is an foreign application into my natural hair and has a risk of failure or fixes.  I understand that wefts, stitching and thread fail and may require additional maintenance.  I accept full responsibility for the maintenance care I do at home.
